The GNO Chapter of PMI has scheduled their 14th Annual Professional Development day for Saturday, October 29th, 2016 at the Slidell Harbor Center. This will be an opportunity to earn 8 PDU’s on a variety of Talent Triangle topics. Our keynote speaker is Walter Viali. Walter will present opening and closing segments about the French and the American projects and efforts to build the Panama Canal. Walter will show from a project management perspective where and how the French failed and where and how the Americans were successful.
Walter is a Project Management and PMO Management Consultant, Instructor, and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a varied background in different industries, which has included several domestic and international assignments. He is the co-author of the book titled “Accelerating Change with Organizational Project Management: The New Paradigm for Change”. Walter was a member of the PMI team that authored the first release of the PMI OPM3 assessment standard in 2003. He was on the Board of the PMI Houston Chapter from 2002 until 2008 and its President in 2007. He was also on the Board of the PMI Clear Lake-Galveston Chapter in 2009-2010. From 2011 to 2014, Walter was the Region Mentor for PMI’s Region 6 (26 PMI Chapters and over 24,000 PMI members in the South Central U.S.). He is currently a member of the PMI Chapter Training Quality Assurance (CTQA) program.
