Edward Pratt is Press Secretary at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. He has been a reporter and editor with the old State-Times and The Advocate newspapers in Baton Rouge, and at the Orlando Sentinel newspaper in Orlando, Florida.
Pratt has won numerous writing and reporting awards, including recognition from the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation, the National Association of Black Journalists, the Associated Press, the Institute for Southern Studies, the Louisiana Press Association and the NAACP.
He was press secretary for Louisiana Lt. Gov. Kathleen Blanco, the Louisiana Department of Labor and Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was on Blanco’s public relations team when she was elected governor.
He holds a B.A. in Journalism from Southern University. Pratt, a graduate of McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, is married with two children and three grandchildren.

Hunters spend about $6.6 million on trips and equipment in Louisiana communities each year.
